Dog Travel Must-Haves
After taking my dogs to 20 states and 9 national parks, these are my recommended must-haves and things that make dog mom life easier. Some items may be affiliate links and I may receive a small commission at no cost to you. Hopefully this is helpful, let me know if you have any questions!
Dog Seat Barrier
If you have an anxious dog, this car seat barrier (we call it our police barrier, haha) is a lifesaver. Zeus loved going new places but hated getting there. He would try to get in the front seat, drool, shake. Once we installed this, he was so much better! It seemed to relax him. I don’t know if it was because he couldn’t see out as well or what. It was also so much more peaceful for us. A definite life saver!
Dog Training Collar
These shock/training collars work so well for training your dog to be off leash. They vibrate to correct, so you don’t have to shock them. They also make a beep. That’s all it takes to correct them and get them to return if they aren’t listening. Highly recommend for off leash areas.
Decked Cargo Glide
This is not sponsored or an affiliate link - and it’s pricey - but this has been the best purchase ever! No more climbing over the wheel well to get to things in the middle or back. We can fit our suitcases, cooler, tote with the dog stuff, so much more - slide it out and reach everything! It’s been a marriage saver, haha!
Dog Car Seat Hammock
We use this dog car seat hammock either to hang over the front seats or the back, depending on which we need to protect from dog hair. It has an open section with a net that can zip up that falls between the front seats so you can still talk to and touch your dog and the air can flow between the front and back seats. It’s very water resistant and keeps the hair from sticking to the seats.
Single Dog Car Seat Cover
I use this single seat cover for either the front seat or for the single truck back seat so I can lift and lower sections. These seat covers work really well to protect my seats from wet dogs, dog hair, dirt and mud.
Dog Scratch Remover
Not necessarily for travel, although it could come in handy if your dog scratches wood while you’re at a hotel or Airbnb, this has been a miracle worker on my wood doors. Zeus would hit them with his paw when he wanted out - it doesn’t fill in the scratch, but it fills in the color and you can’t even see it anymore. I swear - it works!
